Eragon
Status: Finished reading
Review:
An epic fantasy full of intrigues, exciting plot, detailed depictions of the setting and a rather hanging ender. Eragon is indeed one of the best novels to be published in its genre. Having dragons and Riders as its main ingredient, the novel at a glance will definitely pull focus among the readers. However, the nice add-ons-elves, dwarves, sorcerers, etc gave more color to it.The plot indeed sculpted its contours and the twists made the story exciting. Eragon, receives two thumbs up for it intricate story yet packaged in a simple manner.
Eragon may tickle minds of people, still the idea itself is not fresh. The idea for its characters, setting and even articles in it are stereotypes of fantasy writing. The plot it exciting, yes, but the progression is rather dragging. I must admit that I was stuck in the first three pages of the book but after passing through the fifth chapter the pace started to pick up. Also, the story lacks in humor. True enough that Eragon is not a comedic piece but there are areas in the book that needs them. Its rater odd that the story has twists and turns every once in a while but the attack is head on and flavorless. Making the outcome somewhat predictable.
Verdict:
Eragon is a good starter for a series. Though many characters are yet to be developed, the book gave a spectacular opportunity for others to be foretold. I cannot wait to acquire Eldest
